Municipal Election Information

The Village is divided into three Residential Areas. One councilmember must reside in the Northern Area (Seat 1), one in the Central Area (Seat 2) and one in the Southern Area (Seat 3). An additional councilmember (Seat 4) and the mayor shall be elected without regard to residence in any particular Residential Area. Candidates running for a particular Residential Area (Seats 1, 2 and 3) must be a resident of the Residential Area they propose to represent on the Village Council at the time of qualifying, at the time of their election and must continue to reside in such Residential Area during the term of office. A General Election is held in each even-numbered year on the day of the U.S. Congressional elections (the first Tuesday of November). Any candidate receiving a number of votes greater than fifty percent (50%) of the total of ballots cast shall be duly elected at such election. A Runoff Election, if necessary, shall be held on the third Tuesday of November. The ballot for the runoff election shall contain the names of the two candidates for each Council seat who received the most votes in the general election. The candidates receiving the most votes in the Runoff Election shall be duly elected.

The duly elected councilmembers shall serve a four year term that will commence at 12:00 noon on the 7th day following the certification of the election. Members of the Village Council do not receive any compensation pursuant to Section 2.6 of the Village Charter.

2026 Municipal Election

Candidates shall qualify for the 2026 municipal election in the Office of the Village Clerk, Village of Pinecrest, 12645 Pinecrest Parkway, Pinecrest, Florida.

Candidates may qualify for Mayor and At-Large Seat (Seat 4)(PDF, 388KB).

The qualifying period shall commence on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 12:00 noon and end on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon (pursuant to Section 2-231 of the Code of Ordinances). All candidates must file their qualifying papers with the Village Clerk during the qualifying period. Kindly make an appointment by calling 305.234.2121 or via e-mail.

The 2026 Candidate's Handbook will be available at the Office of the Village Clerk.

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Qualifying Information

The following will be necessary for the filing of candidacy:

Step 1.Form 1 - Statement of Financial Interests 

If you are a Candidate who does not currently hold an office or other position requiring disclosure, you will complete your disclosure in EFDMS via the "I am a candidate Link" and print it for filing with your Qualifying Officer. If you have an annual filing requirement and are running for office, you will complete your disclosure in EFDMS and submit your verification/receipt of e-filing your form or print a copy of your disclosure to file with your Qualifying Officer. Step 4.Qualifying Fee

Pursuant to Section 2.4 of the Village Charter, a fee in the amount of $100.00, payable to the Village of Pinecrest from a campaign account, must be provided to the Village Clerk at the time of qualifying.

Step 5.Form DS-DE 302NP - Candidate Oath

Including  Statement of Outstanding Fines Fees, or Penalties (Effective 10/23)

Step 6.Voter Information Card

Submit a copy of the voter registration card.

Step 7.One Year Residency Affidavit

Section 2.4 of the Village Charter requires candidates to be electors of the Village of Pinecrest and to have resided in the Village (and in the respective Residential Area from which the candidate may seek to qualify for election) for at least one year preceding the date of filing. The form is provided by the Village Clerk at the time of qualifying.

Step 8.Voluntary Statement of Fair Campaign Practices
