Pinecrest Monthly Family Bike Rides
Published on January 08, 2025
More than 50 Pinecrest residents took their bicycles for an early morning spin during the recent Pinecrest Family Bike Ride, a new and growing tradition in the Village of Pinecrest. The community-focused ride started and ended at Evelyn Greer Park and included a delicious pit stop at Azucar Ice Cream, where children and parents enjoyed sweet treats and meeting neighbors.
With helmets on and plenty of smiles, families pedaled through Pinecrest's scenic streets under the watchful escort of Pinecrest Police, who ensured the safety of all participants.
This monthly initiative, originally started by Pinecrest resident Jennie Robau and supported by new Village Council Member Ariel Meyer, aims to promote a healthier, bike-friendly Pinecrest while encouraging residents to explore local hotspots.
"I grew up bicycle riding in Pinecrest, and I envisioned creating a monthly event where children could experience the joy of riding safely like I did, free from the concern of inattentive drivers,” said Robau. “These days, it doesn't really feel safe to ride your bike to get ice cream. I wanted to create an event where that could happen. It’s been incredible to see so many residents embrace this idea."
“Each Pinecrest Family Bike Ride brings families together, gets people outdoors, and showcases everything our wonderful village has to offer," adds Meyer. "Every month, we enjoy stops at different Pinecrest landmarks, so there’s always something new to discover."
Meyer encourages multigenerational participation. “Everyone from toddlers to grandparents can participate.”
Past rides have included stops at beloved community locations such as the Pinecrest Community Center and Wayside Market, fostering fitness and community connection among participants of all ages.
Mark your calendars for the next Pinecrest Family Bike Ride at 9 am on January 25. The ride offers an opportunity to connect, explore, and cycle through Pinecrest’s beautiful neighborhoods. The ride starts at the Suniland Park Annex (off 132nd Street). To register for an upcoming bike ride, visit @bikepinecrest on Instagram.
