Small City Implements Huge Accomplishment

This month, we're not just celebrating the sun-soaked, tree-lined beauty of our little slice of paradise, Pinecrest. It's #SmallCitiesMonth, and we're joining the @nationalleagueofcities in recognizing the impactful role that small cities like ours play in the community.

In Pinecrest, we've been incredibly fortunate to receive funds directly from the American Rescue Plan Act. These funds have allowed us to initiate crucial infrastructure projects benefiting our residents. One standout example is our long-awaited Potable Water Project. Now, residents along the east boundary of Pinecrest between 104 and 120 Streets have access to county drinking water and fire hydrants for the very first time. This victory was made possible by our Village Council and staff’s visionary leadership and by the substantial federal funds we received. Before this project, many of our homes were well-dependent, causing issues such as failing wells, the threat of saltwater intrusion, and unreliable water supply during storms. Thanks to these funds, the last 725 residences in Pinecrest will have access to potable water. The impact of this project goes beyond just providing drinking water. It means more reliable access to essential services during storms and increases fire protection for our community through new hydrants. This is the kind of tangible result that funding can have when it's directed straight to small cities. We're proud of what we've accomplished in our Village, and we're grateful for the opportunity to put federal funds to good use for the benefit of our residents.
