Katie Abbott was elected to Council Seat 2 in 2022, and the At-Large Seat in 2018. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Duke University and a Masters in Gifted Education from Columbia University. Councilmember Abbott worked over 15 years for a New York publisher, Scholastic Inc., as an Internet Producer and Project Manager. She grew up in Pinecrest and went to Palmetto Elementary, Palmetto Junior High and Miami Palmetto High School. She is married with two children, and her parents still live in her childhood home in Pinecrest. Prior to her 2018 election, she served for two years on the Zoning Board. She also co-created and currently co-captains a Neighborhood Crime Watch group and was a chair for the Village’s Fashion in the Gardens fundraiser for several years. She served two years as PTA President at Pinecrest Elementary and two years as PTSA President at Palmetto Middle School. Since her 2018 election, she has served as liaison for Pinecrest’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC). She has also been appointed for two years (2021 and 2022) to two National League of Cities’ Committees: The Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee and the Council on Youth, Education, and Families Committee. She also served on The Friends of Pinecrest Gardens Board (11/21-12/22) and the Pinecrest City Music Project Board (2020-current).
