Pinecrest Gardens, with its lush landscapes, beautiful botanic gardens and buzzing community scene, welcomes over 140,000 local and international visitors each year. Formerly the beloved Parrot Jungle, the Village of Pinecrest acquired this South Florida gem in 2002, securing its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. Today, Pinecrest Gardens provides a multifaceted venue for the arts, education, and environmental conservation. Beyond its rich history, it serves as both an entertainment destination and a picturesque backdrop for special occasions, spanning from weddings and bridal showers to corporate events. Cristina Blanco, M.A.
Cristina was appointed Director of Pinecrest Gardens in September 2022, where she manages the 14-acre botanical garden, overseeing its operations, diverse programs in education, performing and visual arts, festivals, and community events. With over 25 years of professional experience across the corporate and nonprofit sectors, Cristina is a seasoned leader skilled in building high-performing teams. She previously served as Chief Communications and External Affairs Officer at United Way Miami, leading state and local advocacy, marketing campaigns, volunteer engagement, emergency response initiatives, public-private partnerships, and fundraising initiatives. Cristina’s career includes leadership in museums, performing and visual arts organizations, higher education, and financial institutions. In each of her roles, she has spearheaded major marketing initiatives including rebranding efforts that enhance the visibility and recognition of the arts, museums, community services, and financial services. She holds a BFA and an MA in nonprofit and arts administration from Florida State University, bringing a unique blend of strategic and operational expertise to her work.
