Code Compliance

Code Compliance is a division of the Department of Planning and Zoning that is committed to working with citizens in a joint effort to preserve and improve the quality of life in the Village of Pinecrest by enforcing the ordinances of the Villages Land Development and Nuisance Codes. Any violation of these codes may include issuing notices of violation/notice to appears or civil violations and to prepare, schedule and present Code Enforcement Hearings and provide administrative support to Special Magistrate.

  • Tree removal without a permit or improper pruning
  • Water shortage violations

  • Illegal objects in the right of way/sidewalk obstructions

I received a Code Violation; what should I do now?

Please review the Notice you received and take action to correct the issue.

If you have questions about what is required to achieve compliance, contact the Code Compliance inspector who issued the violation for more information. The inspector’s name, email address, and direct line should be listed on the notice you received.


When am I allowed to water my lawn?

While we are working toward having lush green lawns, we must also think about water conservation. Miami-Dade County allows residents with even-numbered addresses to water their lawns Thursdays and Sundays and residents with odd-numbered addresses to water their lawns Wednesdays and Saturdays. What are the hours in which landscaping work is permitted?

Commercial landscapers can work in the Village from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. of Saturday. No commercial work is allowed on Sundays and legal holidays. Residents can operate their own landscaping equipment from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday and legal holidays.

 

Are their any regulations for the use of a leaf blower?

All leaf blowers used in the Village must meet a noise requirement. All leaf blowers used in the Village must meet the requirement of having a stamp from the manufacturer or testing laboratory certifying a rating of no more than 65 DBA. Gas-powered leaf blowers will be banned starting January 2023. (see: Leaf Blower Regulations(PDF, 51KB) )

Appointed as Planning Director on October 12, 2010. A native of Michigan, Steve earned a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan in 1983. Mr. Olmsted began his planning career in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1981 and has held planning positions in Ohio and Florida including Orange County and Marco Island. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
