Last week, I gave an update on the Rapid Transit Zone issue. It is moving along through the county’s legislative process, as scheduled. Nothing has changed. I was able to reconfirm yesterday that Pinecrest will be in total control of our processes and will be able to protect every single-family home from changes in the future.

Now, we can get back to the business we were doing before all this all came about, and that is our US 1 Vision Plan which if you recall was put on hold, so that we can address the Rapid Transit Zone issue first.

The vision planning process is the same one we have always used in Pinecrest that has made us so successful. We answer every single question. We will develop a common set of facts. We will debate those facts, vigorously. We discuss the topic until everyone has had their say, and then we will make a decision that is best for the community as a whole.

We have always come to the middle and built a community-wide consensus before we move forward and that is why Pinecrest is the way it is. This process will be no different.

As part of the vision plan, we created a Citizen’s Committee to lead the process. This group is made up of Pinecrest citizens, who are professionals with years, if not decades, of experience in their fields of architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

If you are interested in this topic, this is the forum in which to participate. The committee will be meeting over the course of the next several months. Our next meeting is on July 19, and they will be discussing everything that will make our portion of the US 1 Corridor uniquely Pinecrest – a place like no other.

I highly encourage everyone to be part of this process. If you have questions, this is where you can get real answers. If you have concerns, this the place to voice them. This is a safe place where you can voice your opinion and can truly make a difference.

For more information about the vision plan and future meeting dates and times, please visit our website at www.pinecrest-fl.gov/US1Plan. This site provides all the information you need. It provides videos of prior meetings, all background technical documents and as a result an ever-growing list of answers to our most frequently asked questions.

After going there, if you have any questions that are not addressed in the FAQ, please submit them to US1Plan@pinecrest-fl.gov and we will get answers ASAP.

As always, we are here for you. Email the council at council@pinecrest-fl.gov, email me at jcorradino@pinecrest-fl.gov or call me at 305.606.2364.
