History

1997-1999

PinecrestPD_19972.jpg On June 15, 1997, the Pinecrest Police Department began full-time operations with 27 police officers and 6 civilian personnel. In 1999, the department became one of only seven 911 public safety answering points (PSAP) in Miami-Dade.  The department was under the leadership of Chief Bruce Davis from 1997 through 1999.

 

 

1999-2012

Chief John HohenseeIn October 2004, the Police Department moved to the new Pinecrest Municipal Center. The state of the art facility features modern security elements, holding cells, an E-911 emergency communications center, an emergency operations center, and a progressive and highly accountable property and evidence system.  The department was under the leadership of Chief John R. Hohensee from 1999 through 2012.

 

 

 

2012-2021

Chief Samuel Ceballos Jr.jpgIn 2004, the Police Department was awarded international accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Since that time, it has continuously remained accredited. CALEA designated the Pinecrest Police Department as a "Flagship Agency" in 2010. The most recent reaccreditation was July 31, 2016 when the Pinecrest Police Department received the Gold Standard Advanced Re-accreditation Certificate.  The department was under the leadership of Chief Samuel Ceballos, Jr. from 2012 through 2021.
